P and P Projects creating Viking-themed dark ride based on historical fact

Vikings are scheduled to return to Sweden in an upcoming dark ride themed by P&P Projects, slated to open in April 2017.

The dark ride, Ragnfrid’s Saga, will be part of a brand new historical Viking attraction on Djurgarden island in Stockholm. The visitor attraction, Vikingaliv (Life of Vikings), which takes guests back to the year 963AD, will include an educational centre, museum and coffee shop.

The ride is a mystical voyage interspersed with dramatic images of Viking adventure and fantastical landscapes. It’s narrated by the old woman Ragnfrid, who tells the story of her husband Harald’s life, but it’s designed to be as historically accurate as possible. A well-known Swedish professor of history, Dick Harrison, is working with the team to ensure the scenes and props throughout the themed attraction are true to the time.

The set will feature detailed miniature human figures and stunning scenery, engineered, produced and installed by the Dutch design company. The ride will function with a trackless ETF Multi Mover supplied by ETF Ride Systems.

“Vikingaliv is a unique project with the great challenge of being historically correct as well as creating unique dioramas,” said Philipp van Stratum, creative director at P&P.
